Ok so I’ve only been a mommy for 2 years now, yet each day it seems I’m learning more and more about life, myself and parenting. Little did I know that having children would be the biggest source of lessons learned and upheaval of priorities. In no particular order:
#1 It’s ok to be silly with your kids
#2 I am my children’s biggest cheerleader. As parents we can either encourage and build or crush and tear down. I want to be the loudest cheerleader in my children’s lives.
#3 Don’t always let the kids dictate your plans- teach them to deal with having to sit in the stroller on shopping trips, or in their car seats for long trips. Fussing will happen and it’s ok!
#4 Cleaning up after the kids can wait...I try not to wear myself out cleaning up after them all day. I will try to pick 2 or 3 times out of the day to tidy up after them.
#5 My plans/work can be put on hold. Sitting with them and playing with them are priceless memories.
#6 I was a really self-centered person before I had kids
#7 Try not to react to situations cause it will not produce anything good in the end.
#8 Let me husband know when I need a break.
#9 What I do is important- being a mom is one of the most important roles there is! Don’t minimize it.
#10 Hugs and kisses go a long way- My kids need them and I need them!
This week the thing I did for myself was to stop and take a nap. I’m usually trying to fit tons of stuff in during the kids nap but this week I took time to recharge myself with a much needed snooze. It’s small but big for me!
