Side Note: Anyone else having problems posting in Blogger since yesterday??? I’ve been trying to post about the 12 days of Christmas so sorry I’m behind on this post!
I love shopping for my boys! I love shopping for family and friends! The reality is that I don’t have tons of money to buy for everyone I would love to buy for.
Do you ever feel torn that way? I do a lot!
I love knick knack gifts….I like to go to the dollar bins at Target or Michaels (craft store) and see what cute stuff they have. I love buying several items and creating a little gift basket full of fun stuff..
I thought I would post some inexpensive and free ideas for gift giving. These ideas a great for people that you want to show a little appreciation for without breaking the bank:
Baked Treats I’m one of those people who really don’t mind getting food gifts especially if it’s something homedmade (fruitcake not included) Some homemade cookies or brownies placed on a Christmas Plate with colored cellophane can be a great gift for the neighbors! Speaking of food type gifts I do have to admit my LEAST favorite that I have received and sometimes still receive (*grimace*) is the big popcorn tin full of different flavored popcorn. No offense to anyone who buys these or likes them but it’s just not a gift on the top of my Christmas food list!
Peppermint Hot Cocoa Mix– Making a homemade hot cocoa mix & putting it in a mason jar. I usually add a pretty ribbon and piece of material to go over it. You decorate any way you want- just have fun! Here’s a sample:

Just a quick note about making your own gifts…depending on sales out there it can sometimes be cheaper to buy these types of homemade looking gifts already made rather than making them yourself. You just have to keep you eye out for deals. Places I have seen them are like TJ Maxx, Target and Walmart.
2. Pictures As Gifts– I love picture frames and I especially love when I get them as gifts. These can be really inexpensive and yet such a personal gift for someone to receive. Another cute idea is to type out a great quote and then print it on really nice paper and frame it. There are a slew of ideas on Pinterest. Here’s one example:
If you love this you can pick it up on ETSY- it’s only $3.95 and you can print it yourself and frame! Pretty cool! Click here if you’re interested in it!
3. Movie Night Basket: You can easily pick up a $5 DVD add some popcorn packets, movie size candy, some favorite beverages in a popcorn bowl and wrap it in cellophane and a pretty bow. This makes a great gift for a couple or a family especially if your on a tight budget and can’t afford to buy a gift for each family member. Here’s a cute example from darlingdoodles.blogspot.com
4. Pretty Stationary & Journals:
If you’re creative enough you can create some personalized stationary for a teacher or friend. You just need some cute clip art and fonts and Word Processing program like Microsoft word to make an inexpensive but personal gift. You can also buy inexpensive journals at places like TJ Maxx or Ross for under $4 each.
Here’s a cute example of how to personalize a journal notebook over at make iHannah’s Blog
Hope you enjoyed this simple but fun Christmas gift ideas!
