Each month I say it…”man, time flies!” I am amazed how my “babies” are 17 months now. There now less than one month away from being a year and a half.
I know there are days I say I wish they were older. Somehow it seems life would be easier if they could talk to me and dress themselves etc… I guess the grass is always greener.
Over the last few weeks I’ve been really trying to enjoy them for who they are right now. I do rejoice in each new accomplishement and development but I’m embracing their “toddlerness” as well.
They boys aren’t much for saying words right now. The ones they use regularly are the standard “mom, mama “and occassional “dad.” So I’m enjoying their little shrieks, grunts and squeals and all the while hoping I’m interpreting them correctly.
My hubby has been a little concerned because of their very limited vocabulary. After talking to other moms I’ve run into a few that have told me their kids were delayed in using words as well. One mom’s little guys only had about 4 words at 28 months.
I’m praying the boys develop alot more by then. I’m talking to them more and describing things I do and things we see as a means to help their language development. We’re also looking at books together more.
The area I do see alot of growth in the overall large motor development. They are climbing, running, going in circles, sometimes trying to walk backwards (scary!) and overall being boys! They love kicking things no matter what the item is…empty water bottles, legos, cups, lids, bowls…just about anything.
The talking will come and then when it does I’ll probably be wishing they were 17 months again!
