The boys are a little off with the check up schedule (my fault) they missed their 15 month one and so at 21 months old they had to have another one to make up for the missed one. This means their 2 year old check up won’t happen till their 26 months!
Anyways, the doctor checked out the boys and they also got a couple of immunizations. This year I had them get the flu shot which included the H1N1 as well. Last year I was skeptical of the H1N1 but they combined it this year with the regular flu shot.
I re-voiced my concerns to our pediatrician about the boys eating and not talking. She just wants us to really focus on reading more with them, talking to them more and to gradually lessen the baby food. She said in 6 months we can re-evaluate where they are at and determine if they need any intervention.
I have been trying to have a laid back attitude about the boys and their language because I know each kid is different. The boys (mostly “Cuddle Bug”) does mimic us at times- he will repeat a word if he hears us saying it. Now it’s not always a distinguishable word but mom and dad know what he’s trying to say.
“Bubba Bear” will come up to us and utter something unintelligible but we know he is trying to say something- not sure what it is but it’s something.
As far as the boys and their lack of interest in table foods I am being faithful in introducing them to new foods and mixing in “real” food with their baby foods. I got this advice from some several of my mom friends out their in the blogosphere.
A few months ago at a previous checkup the doctor told us that “Cuddle Bug” had a penile adhesion . Not sure if I blogged about this before but this is when some of the loose foreskin re-attaches itself to the head of the penis(glans). Well, the doctor fixed it and told us what to do to keep it from happening again.
So this last Monday the doctor was checking down there again and could only find one testicle. She had to feel around and search for the other one and eventually located it and proceeded to move it back into place. Needless to say “Cuddle Bug” was extremely upset from this exam- even worse than getting 2 shots!
My poor boy, we felt so bad for him and just had to let the doctor do what needed to be done.
As I typed the above out I can already tell it was TMI – sorry if you didn’t need to hear that!
Anyways that’s the latest on the boys. This mama’s been sick since Wednesday and I need to go get some rest now. Have a great & germ-free weekend!
