We had a super fun couple of days the week after Thanksgiving…we took our boys to Disneyland for the first time.
My husband’s job had a meeting planned at Disney’s California Grand Hotel and gave each employee 2 Free Park Hopper Tickets PLUS a one night stay at the aforementioned Hotel! How sweet is that!
Can I first say that just the walking around those 2 theme parks was tiring enough for this mom and dad??? Seriously, we didn’t realized how tuckered walking around plus chasing after the boys would would make us. Just gotta say that before having kids I took summer campers each summer to tons of theme parks-sometimes I had anywhere from 5-10 kids in my group by myself! . That didn’t even compare to taking our two 2 1/2 year olds for just a few hours.
Anyways in all the planning and getting ready to go usually thing don’t go as planned. My hope was for us to arrive right when they opened at 9am but after getting the boys ready and making sure we had everything we didn’t arrive there until 11am. I hate when things don’t go according to plan!
First thing we did was take the boys to Toon Town and let them explore. As a mom of wandering toddlers I like to find areas where the boys can run around and have some fun without me chasing them forever. We found a great place for them to run around and here’s a couple pics of that:
After running around we knew we had to eat lunch. We ate a burger place near Tomorrow Land and had some yummy cheeseburgers and fries all for “only” $20 bucks! Can you hear the sarcasm in my voice??? We expected that cause well it’s Disneyland!
Afterwards instead of roaming all over Disney we decided to hop on over to California Adventure and take the boys to “A Bugs Life”-
On our way to California Adventure I realized I had lost my ticket stub~ I was so bummed! I actually was in tears over it….I know I gotta a little too emotional over it! Thankfully we were able to get a replacement ticket because I had gotten my hand stamped at Disneyland and because my husband still had his ticket. Thank you God!
So once we gratefully we allowed into California Adventure we let the boys run loose in a Bug’s World. Each of us had a boy to watch after….or maybe I should more accurately describe it as “chase” after.
We took the boys on the Ladybug Tea Cups and Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train.
I really wasn’t sure about those Tea Cups cause they went a little fast and were kinda jerky BUT the boys LOVED it! Here’s is a great pic of Caden during the ride:
The one thing I wish I had done more of was take more pics. I’m usually the main photographer in the family but it was really hard to get good pics and the boys aren’t very keen on posing for mama yet.
I’d love to make it a family tradition where we go back once a year to Disney for the boys…the older they get the more fun it will be for sure!
The boys went without their nap until 3pm! They were zonked and so were me and the hubs! Originally we thought we would have enough energy to head back to Disneyland for the firworks and a couple more rides but to tell you the God honest truth we had NO energy to head back. Man, we’re getting old.
I guess next time we need to plan a 3 day trip to Disney so we have time to take it all in. That’s a lot of ground to cover with 2 year olds!
Afterwards we met up with some friends at nearby restaurant and then everyone came back to our hotel room to hang out.
Our stay went by so quick and we really want to try to come back before the boys turn 3 so we can get them in free! Need to save up for that return trip for sure!
