I just wanted to let you all know that we’ve had a mini-breakthrough in the eating department over here. As I have mentioned before about the dilemma of these boys refusing to eat any table food, we have recently had a little change occur.
Our family was blessed with Christmas tree from my husband’s co-worker and her family and along with that they were sweet enough to bring us Christmas dinner: Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, apple pie, veggies…the works!
My hubby thought we should offer the boys some turkey just cause…he has more optimism about offering them food cause I’m with the boys day in and out and see little change.
So when hubby said he was gonna give some to the boys I gave him a unenthusiastic “sure.”
We don’t stand like hawks watching to see if the boys eat the food we offer, we don’t want to put pressure on them. So when we peered out to see how they were doing with the turkey, low and behold it appeared that “Bubba Bear” was putting some turkey in his mouth! Now we weren’t completely sure, cause he had other foods on his tray.
So the next day at lunch I thought I’d offer the turkey again just to see what would happen. As I walked away from the boys I turned to see the reaction to the turkey and I saw my “oldest” slowly raising some turkey meat to his little mouth. I looked again and he proceeded to eat more turkey meat.
I was shocked and happy and almost teary eyed as I witnessed this.
It has been a LONG process getting our boys to take interest in any other food besides baby food, gerber’s cruchies, cheerios, bread and french fries.
Yay for mini breakthroughs!
