I find that when I don’t spend time investing in my relationship with God through those quiet moments of reading the bible or praying that it reflects in my attitude, perspective and behavior. This can be not so great especially when I need God’s perspective and strength in taking care of my two rambunctious toddlers during the day.
Not to mention that it can create one crabby wife by the time my husband comes home from work. Thankfully God is gracious and my husband is extremely laid back! However, I still realize I need to make time for God in my life because it’s not just gonna happen on it’s own.
The New Year always seems to inspire me to renew my commitment to God and to better lifestyle changes in general. Yes, these areas can wane a bit as the year goes on but the new year is like getting a kick start in the right direction.
As you may know there are a ton of online helps for jump starting your spiritual life. I found a place where you can find several bible reading plans to suit your likes one place is YOUVersion.com.
I am doing a one-year “blended” reading plan that is in no particular order- it turn out to be about 5 chapters a day. When do I find time to do this? I usually make it happen while the boys are eating
their breakfast. In between helping them with things I manage to get my 5 chapters in. I also like to sit with my journal to write down any inspiration I receive while reading. Although I may have a few interruptions during my reading time I know that the little time I take to invest in my relationship with God has lasting benefits.
For any of you interested in creating their own reading plan this year, just go to Youversion.com and checkout all they have to offer.
