Last week was a busy week for us as a family. I planned a trip to visit my parents for 5 days by myself with the boys. Usually trips to my parents include my awesome and most helpful husband but this trip was sans hubby.
The reason my hubby was absent was because he was planning a trip to Arkansas to visit his mom and dad but also to pick up a gift that they were giving us.
First let me start off my saying that ever since we had our boys we have had to use my little 2-door coupe and I am sooo thankful to God that this little car that we call “the purple grape.” That little car was the one we used to drive around in when i was a huge pregnant lady, we drove to the hospital in it the night I went into labor and we’ve used it to get around as a family of four.
There have been challenges having a small car as you know especially needing to tote around two babies, a double stroller and other paraphernalia. We’ve had to really plan out our day’s errands with this car as the AC is no longer working and makes for really uncomfortable car rides during the summer.
We had been praying and asking God for a vehicle that would better meet our family’s needs as far as space and a working AC. I have a tiny list of prayer requests that I keep posted on my fridge and over the last year I have asked God if He would please provide us these basic but most helpful items for our family. Money has been tight and we have really had to learn how spend conservatively and wisely. So some of the items on our prayer list have been pretty basic even sometimes just asking God for some new clothes for the boys. One by one over the last year God has been answering our prayers for these basic necessities. I wasn’t too sure how the car request was going to work due to us living on one income.
One day my in-laws called us and asked us if would like to have their current SUV as they were going to purchase another vehicle for themselves. I tell you my jaw dropped upon hearing this offer. I remember when I first heard about it all I could do was cry because of God’s faithfulness to our little family. God cares about our every need and He reminded me of this once again by this incredible answer to prayer.
So last week my hubby flew out to Arkansas to visit his mom and dad but also to pick up our “new” car and bring it back home to us here in California.
My hubby started his drive back home early Saturday morning and drove his little heart out to get back to us the next day (Sunday) at 5pm.
We are still in amazement that this is our new car. We are overwhelmed by God’s blessings and His love for us.
Sometimes it’s easy to get in a mindset that God is distant or that He doesn’t care about our needs but I want to tell you that is so not true. We may not always get our answers to our prayers met in our time frame or in met in a specific way but God promises us in scripture that He will gives good gifts to His children and that we valuable in His eyes. He cares for us and wants to reveal His faithfulness in our lives.
I am thankful for God’s reminders of His love and care for us be it big or small.
