I know it’s a cheesy post title, but I thought it was cute considering this post is about a long awaited event in my boys young lives…they got their first real haircut.
Dylan & Daddy September 2009
Now during the last 18 months of their young lives I have had to give them an occasional snip of the hair. The first one was when they were about 6 months old. Here’s what they looked like. You can see they had little wings growing out the side of their heads.
Caden September 2009
But by far the craziest their hair has looked has been most recently. To be honest I was not looking forward to taking them to the hair salon. I tried to stay positive and think happy thoughts as we drove to the “Great Clips.” I first sat with Caden and had him on my lap- the stylist suggestion. Caden had his objections here and there but had moments of sitting still. . The stylist gave him a comb of his own to play with to distract him from the business at hand. The poor woman had to try to cut his hair as he jerked up and down and every which way. I’m lucky my son still has both ears intact. In between Caden’s binky falling on the floor and getting hair all over it, the stylist needing to go and rinse the binky for me, and Caden twisting and turning all over we were finally done.
Dylan seemed to start off great and I thought, “Hey, maybe this won’t be so bad afterall.” I was so wrong. Dylan screams of protest could be heard outside the store where my husband was watching Dylan. All in all we ended up with shorter hair for the boys which was the goal. Although using clippers would have given us shorter and cleaner look I opted to have her only use scissors on them because I knew the noise of the clippers would freak the boys out even more.
Here’s the before and after of their haircuts:
Granted their hair is till a little long but I’m happy with the results. One thing for sure is that their hair got even curlier after the haircut. I thought maybe we’d lose some curl but it’s curlier than ever.
I’m thinking may be next time buzz cuts so we can go longer in between haircuts. Well maybe not buzz cuts. All I know is I don’t want to return anytime soon to scene of the crime. Hope you enjoyed seeing the pics!
