The last few days seemed to fly by and then I realized that I hadn’t been making any post entries lately. Over the last few months I’ve been considering starting a business that I can do from home part-time and still be able to be the mommy/caregiver that my boys need. So I spent the entire weekend researching, price-comparing and settling on what I really want to do.
My main interest has always been graphic design. My experience in my last job was where I first became interested in creating layouts & designing things on paper. Right before I got pregnant with the boys I was able to take a class at a local junior college in Adobe Creative Suite 3. As students we were able to get an incredible deal on the entire CS3 program (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, DreamWeaver etc…etc…) for only $399. If you know anything about any of these programs you know how expensive just one of these is. I couldn’t pass it up.
So all this is leading me to stay that I’m going to start a photo card business. There are a ton of sites out there that sell photo card invitations so I’m working on something that will set me apart from the rest! This is where I need Divine Inspiration! At this moment I think I want to start with focusing on two things photo cards (bday invites, birth announcements) and making “One-Year Collages.” My plan is to offer custom designs of these as well as templates. Eventually I want to offer a broader range of graphic design but for now I believe photo cards & collages will be my main focus.
I’m not sure how this will all turn out but I am excited to give it a try and see what happens.
If anyone wants to offer advice etc..I’d love to hear some!
