I don’t know about you but I’m always interested to hear about how guys propose to their women….it’s great to hear the different stories.
I was honestly surprised when Aaron proposed to me…it’s not that we hadn’t talked about getting married, I just wasn’t expecting it to be the day that he actually did it.
Earlier that day I was having a bad hair day, so I decided to wear a baseball cap all day that day(something I had not normally done!). The plan that day was to go to a friend’s birthday dinner and then afterwards we talked about going to the beach…something we did normally. On the way to the beach I wanted to stop at the local Christian bookstore for a something. Aaron said he didn’t want to go, something that I wasn’t too happy about. On we proceeded to main beach in Laguna. We walked along the beach and look up on a hill by Tivoli Terrace (a restaraunt near the beach). We saw lights and people up there. Aaron wanted to go up and see what was going on but I just wanted to hang out with Aaron. Aaron convinced me to go up with him, so off we went up the stairs to a look out area where you can see out to the ocean with those coin operated telescopes. As I was looking out the telescope, Aaron wanted me to sit on the bench next to him….he started telling me how much he loved me and then got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. As his words spilled out tears started to fill my eyes and I realized what was happening. From the corner of my eye I noticed this guy in a beachcomber’s hat taking pictures of us. Through my tears, I asked, “who’s that guy?” Aaron then told me it was our Pastor and good friend Doug!
After we hugged, Aaron led me to a terrace where there was a table set up with candles,Martinelli’s, chocolates, roses and a photo album of all the places we had gone on our dates. Our pastor and his family were all there to help him get this all setup.
It was such a wonderful and memorable surprise. After, we walked around and then called our family and friends to share the wonderful news.
