Each year I really love when Fall rolls around…well in my neck of the woods Fall isn’t as distinct or beautiful as in some other parts of the country. I love everything Fall signifies…seasons changing, beginning of a new school year (used to mean more when i was working as a teacher), and the very soon arrival of the holidays.
Yes, I said it – the HOLIDAYS! To me September is the month that jets us all off to the fun of Halloween, the family connection during Thanksgiving and the joy of the Christmas Season!
In a weird way Fall signifies turning a new leaf and making goals just like at the beginning of a new year.
It’s easy to lose track of goals we’ve set for ourselves, our relationships, work, family etc.. in the busyness of life and living. For me Fall is a good time to do a quick inventory and see where to make some changes and track how life is going.
September marks ONE YEAR that our little family moved to this new city not really knowing anyone or having any connections. We’ve come a very long way from last year at this time. The boys aren’t little babies anymore and I’m definetely in the groove of being a mom. Hubby has got his steady job and is even able to spend some time with one of his loves…being involved with music. We’ve slowly been getting more involved at church too. It’s been hard to do that with little ones, but as they get older we’re able to do a little more.
It really feels like these last 12 months have been a time where God has been slowly rooting us and establishing us in this new little community. It’s really hard to have your life transplanted but it’s good too cause it’s made us really have to trust God through the process.
As I do inventory on myself, I realize the areas I still need to grow in. I’m glad that God is patient with me but I know that I need to step out of my comfort zone and develop relationships with other women, moms of toddlers and just people in general.
I’m excited about this new month and can’t wait to see what the last few months of this year brings.
Within the next couple of weeks I will be sharing something “new” that I’m doing (with God’s wonderful help). More good things are coming!
