Getting out of the house is a necessary part of life especially if a parent is to stay sane! Besides you have to shop once in awhile and in order to accomplish this the kids must come along unless you are blessed with a babysitter. For those parents with more than 1 child (be it multiples or not) and no extra help, there are different methods that we use to go places and accomplish tasks with our kids. Now whether it’s a plane ride to the grandparents or just a trip to Target to get your basics there definetely has to be a plan to get it all done.
In our boys early days we would take them places in their infant carseats and then put those seats in their double snap n’ go stroller. For trips to the grocery store that meant not being able to get a whole lot cause of the limited space. Once I was at the grocery store with my boys and I saw a mom strolling with her sleeping baby (about 9 months old) and this mom just placed all her groceries ON TOP of the baby. It wasn’t just one or two things either it was about 6-8 items. Luckily she wasn’t buying a gallon of milk that day! But the one thing about the snap n’ go is once the babies get heavier it is really hard to manuever that contraption.
Nowadays my trip to the store involves using the boys double stroller and pulling a grocery cart along side. I had to give up on baby carriers along time ago. They were awkward and my boys didn’t care for them either. I’ve gotten used to the stares as I traverse up and down the aisles with my entourage! Most comments are “Boy you sure have your hands full!”
My boys are funny cause they don’t mind being in the stroller as long we’re moving along. Once I stop to look at something or to grab something they usually start the complaining. One of them is a little more vocal than the other but I try to ignore it or tell him he needs to stop cause mom is shopping. It doesn’t stop the whining but what can you do? Another thing that works great with a double stroller is one of those hand held baskets…I just place it on the stroller handle and it keeps me from piling the groceries on top of my boys!
Having my husband along for errands make everything alot easier and when the boys were smaller it helped him to build some muscle too! He carried those car seats everywhere!
For the most part I do what I need to do with the boys in tow…it’s not my favorite way to roll but I do it cause I’m the mama!
