This year will mark the first time we travel with our boys in an airplane off to visit the grandparents. I keep telling myself…”it’ll be o.k., it’ll be o.k. Liz. The boys will be close to 4 and they should be able to handle the flight.”
Is it weird that I’m already trying to prepare myself for the flight that won’t even happen until November of this year? I’ve been reading in the news about airlines being less kid- friendly when it comes to on flight tantrums. Even read a recent article today that mentioned a family of 4 getting booted off the plane because of their toddlers melt down and refusal to be seat-belted.
Oh my goodness. Not sure what to think about it all. I’m one of those parent’s who cringes when my kid is too loud in a restaraunt, I can’t imagine being stuck on plane for 2 hours with one or both of my kids losing it on the flight. There’s no where to run no where to hide the ear piercing screams emitting from my child’s mouth.
From what I read nowadays it seems fellow travelers are becoming less tolerant of kid misbehavior on flights. What’s a parent to do???
I’m already praying for there to be friendly and merciful passengers on the flight we are going to be on or at least that I will handle any meltdown with grace and a shred of my dignity.
Well, I can only hope to bring enough interesting things that my kids enjoy to help ease any tantrums or irritability on the trip. Right now my fail safe with the boys is reading or quoting this book they absolutely love called “Potty” by Leslie Patricelli. They LOVE that book and anytime I quote excerpts from it when they’re upset it brings a quick smile to their face and the tears stop…pretty cool!
From now till November I have to time to find ideas on Google about traveling with kids on airplanes. I’d also love to hear any advice you can all can offer as well or travel horror stories that you can now laugh about.
