It’s been a while since I updated on how the boys are doing. They had their 15 month/early 18 month doctor visit last week. Somehow I forgot to schedule their 15 month appointment at the one year check-up and it threw everything out of whack.
So at this recent check up I was really surprised to find out the boys ONLY weigh 26 lbs each. I say “surprised” because I could swear some days these boys feel like they are in the 30 pound range! They’re also 32 1/2 inches long.
We had to fill out alot of questionaires about their health, one of them being the ASD form (autism spectrum disorder) which is routine at this age. No concerns with the boys in regards to this questionaire.
I brought up to the doctor my concerns with the boys eating and lack of verbal expression (that I can understand) she was encouraging and told us to keep trying to give the boys new food with ones they are already familiar with.
With regard to language she said to increase the reading to them, give them more specific directions to give us things and to just be really verbal with them (describing things around us). We’ve been doing those things but I think we just need to pump it up a little.
I started giving the boys pieces of bread and put a little cream cheese on it and surprisingly they ate it.
I’m gonna keep at it with introducing new things with the familiar and see if we continue to get breakthrough.
I know each child develops differently, so I’m just taking it a day a time with them and not making sure I don’t get worked up over what they are not doing.
Here’s a funny thing that Caden did yesterday…I put out their high chairs to get ready for lunch and while I was seatbelting his brother I turned my head and saw Caden doing this…
He’s got the general idea but it needs some refining! These guys are fun to watch. I’m a blessed mama!
